At North Country School, multiple opportunities exist for both casual and more competitive players to get involved in soccer. Playing soccer has many benefits for our children, including improving stamina and cardiovascular health and increasing muscle and bone strength. Additionally, the game promotes teamwork, teaches coordination, and boosts confidence and self-esteem. Consistent with North Country School philosophy, all children who wish to become involved are actively encouraged to play.
Open to boys and girls in all grades, the soccer team plays at a remarkably high level. The season begins in September and runs through the end of October. The team practices during out-time and plays and practices at a variety of local fields, as well as the on-campus field, to become accustomed to different playing environments. Two or three faculty members serve as coaches. Together they have a combined thirty years of coaching experience, as well as collegiate playing and coaching experience. The soccer program strives to teach skills to new players and encourage development of more experienced players.
