Paulette grew up on her family’s farm in Minnesota; with their animals and large garden, she experienced sustainable living at an early age. She attended St. Cloud State University and The College of St. Catherine before traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Paulette joined the kitchen staff of NCS in 1994. She earned the NYS ServSafe Certification in March 2008. Paulette’s two children, Luke ('08) and Naomi ('12), are NCS graduates.
Jessica grew up in southern Connecticut, but she spent her weekends at her family's property in Vermont. The love of the mountains and being outdoors inspired Jessica to attend Paul Smith's College in Paul Smiths, NY, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts Service Management. Throughout her college career, Jessica worked in many different restaurants around Saranac Lake and Lake Placid as a line cook and eventually as a sous chef. After graduating she worked in a variety of culinary trades, starting from the bottom as a breakfast cook and finally working her up to general manager of two separate franchises, all the while building a family and enjoying what the Adirondacks have to offer. Jessica made her way to North Country School in 2019. She loves everything NCS has to offer, especially working with the barn and garden staff to get the freshest ingredients to cook with.
Chris joined the staff of NCS during the spring of 2005. He works hard keeping the campus buildings and grounds maintained. Chris lives in Lake Placid.
Carly grew up in central New Jersey and attended Paul Smith's College, where she earned a degree in Environmental Studies. She traveled extensively through the country and internationally, and recently returned to the beautiful Adirondack region to make it her permanent home. In addition to travel, she also likes to downhill ski, camp and canoe.
Monica came to NCS in December 2012 from the Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid. There she spent 12 years as supervisor of housekeeping and laundry. A graduate of Lake Placid High School, Monica was born, raised, and still lives in Wilmington—these days with her husband Darin, daughter Megan, two dogs, and a cat. In her spare time, Monica enjoys canoeing and camping locally and traveling farther afield. She enjoyed a recent trip to Montana, visits Lancaster County in Pennsylvania every year to indulge her fascination with the Amish, and has her sights set on an Alaskan cruise in the not too distant future.
