Where most classrooms end, ours begin.

The NCS library/media center is a busy place, serving students with a broad range of interests. The library is linked to the Northern New York Library Network, which offers automated interlibrary loan services, online encyclopedia references, and online database services that provide full-text magazine documents — from National Geographic to Newsweek. Full-text local, national and international newspaper articles are also available.

Title Trekking

Title Trekking is an optional, independent reading challenge designed to encourage students (and adults) to read for pleasure. To participate, readers choose titles of interest, often from a list kept by the librarian. After reading a book, participants submit Title Treks, which are journal entries exchanged with the librarian or another faculty member that creates a written dialogue about the book. After a reader completes 46 Title Treks, he or she becomes an NCS Literary 46er, an honor inspired by the Adirondack High Peaks hiking group. At the end of each school year, the most prolific Title Trekkers in each grade receive special recognition, and Literary 46ers are recognized at graduation.
