Upper Grade Leadership Awards
2019-2020 will be the first year of a joint advancement-admissions initiative that provides up to four $30,000 scholarships to new 8th and 9th grade boarding students who seek a one-year junior boarding school experience. Scholarship recipients who enroll in the 8th grade and remain in good standing in the spring term will retain the scholarship for 9th grade.
These awards have been made possible through philanthropic support and are available only to students who demonstrate leadership skills in their current schools, communities, and/or volunteer groups.
- In addition to completing an application and visit (or interview via Skype), applicants must complete an essay of 500 words describing the way(s) in which their lives have been affected or influenced by a remarkable role model whose contributions and leadership in a given area has improved the lives of others.
- Students may also submit an additional recommendation from a coach, private instructor, or mentor.
- Deadlines: complete application (May 31), notification (June 7), enrollment decision (June 21).
